The Building Inspector is available on a full-time basis and serves both the Town and the Village.
Appointments must be made 24 hours in advance to ensure the inspector's
presence in the office. Stop-in visits are welcome, but the availability is not guaranteed.
The Building Department issues building, sign and special event permits, enforces the Building Code,
Town Laws, the Town Zoning Ordinance, and conditions of approval from the Town Board, Planning Board and Zoning Board.
The staff conducts periodic inspections on construction projects and code enforcement complaints.
Information and requirements on permits and codes can be obtained in this department.
The Town Fire Marshal is responsible for the enforcement of local ordinances regarding fire prevention
and precaution. Our office works with local fire districts to furnish and receive information regarding fires and fire hazards.

The Wheatland Town Clerk's Office takes great pride in serving the people in the community and
works hard to give town residents prompt and courteous service. The Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerks look forward to helping Town
residents with all their local government needs.
Some of the services the Town Clerk's Office provides, include:
- Selling New York State Licenses (Dog, Conservation and Marriage).
- Issuing handicap parking permits (for Wheatland residents only).
- Collecting Town and County taxes.
- Responding to Freedom of Information requests.
- Providing clerical services and record keeping for all Town departments.
- Performing state-required services for the election process.
- Posting legal notices, filing and maintaining a book of local laws and maintaining minutes for support boards and commissions.

ASSESSOR'S OFFICE |

The Town Assessor is the official who estimates the value of real property within the Town and Village boundaries.
This value is converted into an assessment which is one component in the computation of real propety tax bills.
The Assessor's Office interacts with the public in numerous ways, including disseminating information about properties in
Wheatland to the public and assisting property owners with assessment questions.
Some of the services the Town Assessor's Office provides, include:
- Answering questions regarding a variety of exemptions.
- Answering questions about a resident's current property.
- Helping prospective home buyers with assesment questions.
- Providing NYS Assesment exemption forms and help to fill them out.

RECREATION DEPARTMENT |

The Recreation Department at the Town of Wheatland provides physical and cultural activities
to citizens of all ages. The department is managed by a Director with a Recreation/Cultural
Commission of volunteers, who serve in an advisory capacity, responsible for advisement and
direction, as well as reviewing program proposals and expenditures.

SENIOR CENTER |

Located in the new Wheatland Municipal Building at 22 Main Street in Scottsville, the Wheatland Senior Center seeks to nourish
the whole person by offering hot meals and programs for people age 60 and over and their spouse of any age.
The Center offers opportunities for socialization, recreation, and education and provides access to services in Monroe
County that will help senior citizens maintain their independence in the community.
A nutritious hot meal that provides one third of the Required Dietary Allotment is served at 12:30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The suggested donation for senior citizens is $2.50
