BUILDING DEPARTMENT:

Building Permits

Some common examples of when a permit is required:

  • Constructing or placing a garden (or tool) shed.
  • Converting a portion of a basement/cellar into a recreation room.
  • Installing a swimming pool (above- or in-ground).
  • Installing a hot tub or spa.
  • Installing a deck.
  • Extending an electrical system.
  • Extending a plumbing system.
  • Installing a radio antenna tower.
  • Enclosing a porch.
  • Erecting a sunroom or gazebo.
  • Changing window sizes.
  • Demolish an existing structure.
  • Rebuilding a structure on an existing foundation.
  • Building a house or a garage.

In all cases, Building Permit applications must be accompanied by detailed construction drawings (may be required to be stamped by a NYS licensed Architect or Engineer). In most cases, new structures require a survey map showing the location of the structure in relation to property lines.

Dog License Information

Dog licenses may be purchased at the Town Clerk's office during normal business hours.

Standard Dog License Fees:

  • $  9.00 - Altered (Spayed or Neutered)
  • $18.00 - Unaltered
  • $  3.00 - Replacement Tag

Residents are required to bring proof of vaccination, and spaying or neutering if applicable. Original license must be obtained at the Town Clerk's office; renewals may be done by mail.

Fishing License Information

NYS fishing licenses may be purchased at the Town Clerk's office during normal business hours. For fishing license information, including fishing license fees, please visit the NYS Department of Conservation website by clicking here.

Sporting License Information

NYS sporting licenses may be purchased at the Town Clerk's office during normal business hours. For a sporting license information, including sporting license fees, please visit the NYS Department of Conservation website by clicking here.

PLEASE NOTE: All applicants must show proof of residency (i.e. NYS drivers license). All applicants must have either a certificate of qualification in hunter education for the requested license type or provide a previous license. A back tag is NOT acceptable proof.

Marriage License Information

NYS marriage licenses may be purchased at the Town Clerk's office during normal business hours, however, to serve you better, appointments are HIGHLY recommended. Requirements to purchase a license are as follows:

  • Both applicants must be present.
  • Proof of age is required. A driver's license, birth certificate or passport may be used as proof of age.
  • For each applicant under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian is required to be present to offer consent.
  • For each applicant who has been married previously, a Divorce Degree or Certificate of Dissolution for each previous marriage is required.
  • A non-refundable License fee of $40.00 must be paid.

The fee for a certified copy of a marriage license is $10.00.

Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days beginning 24 hours after issuance.

New York State requires a 24-hour waiting period following the issuance of a marriage license before a couple can be married.
